Knew You Society

ABOUT US

Like many women, I had no real idea about perimenopause symptoms and the hormonal changes happening in the years leading up to menopause - that one magical day when your periods stop.

In my early forties, I had a hysterectomy. Although I kept my ovaries, I later learned that the surgery could still impact their function, and that menopause might come earlier for me as a result.

But even knowing that, I wasn’t prepared for the reality of perimenopause, and how much it would affect my body, mind, and sense of self. The mood swings. The anxiety. The brain fog. The joint pain. The exhaustion. The moments where I honestly didn’t know me anymore.

At first, I put it down to stress, or getting older, or parenting burn-out or just “life.” But the truth was, I had been in perimenopause for years, and I didn’t even know it.

Now, anyone who knows me knows I have a genuine thirst for knowledge. A “leave no stone unturned” kind of thirst - especially when it comes to women's health.

So how had this particular topic evaded me?

Because nobody talked about perimenopause support or how to navigate it.

I’ll be honest - I’m still not always comfortable talking about it.

For so long, I didn’t have the words. I didn’t even know what was happening to me, let alone how to share it. And even now, part of me hesitates before I speak up.

But that’s exactly why I created Knew You Society - a supportive community for midlife women navigating perimenopause and menopause. Because I want that to change - for me, and for every woman who’s felt lost, confused, sad, or silenced during this time of life.

So I educated myself. I read, I listened, I asked my doctor questions, I changed doctors, and I kept going until things started to make sense.

And what I learned surprised me:

Knew You Society
  • Perimenopause can start as early as your 30s.

  • It’s not just about hot flashes - it’s mood, memory, sleep, energy, confidence… Every cell of your body.

  • Many women are going through perimenopause while raising very young children - something no one prepares you for.

  • Too many women go through this confused, dismissed, or feeling completely alone - and that has to change.

  • The WHI report findings in 2002 caused widespread fear around HRT. This was later criticised for flawed methodology and misinterpretation, sparking decades of confusion for women navigating menopause.

  • Even today, many doctors remain hesitant to prescribe HRT. This fear, rooted in outdated WHI data, has created a generation of women who were denied safe, effective treatment during a crucial stage of their life.

Knew You Society is the space I wish I’d had.

A community where you can find clarity, connection, and tools for navigating perimenopause that actually help.

Because midlife doesn’t have to mean crisis.

  • It can mean strength.

  • It can mean confidence.

  • It can mean becoming the Knew You.
